Title: Forging New Links - Enhancing Supply Chain Value Through Environmental Excellence Author: GEMI Publisher: GEMI ISBN No.: 0 Year of Publication: 2004 Website: http://www.gemi.org/supplychain
Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) cuts across all aspects of business functioning and it is logical that it should form a key part of the supply chain management process. In many cases, this happens automatically but in other cases, it is left out because EHS is seen by many as a “bolt on” aspect that can be left out when things get difficult.
The Global Management Initiative (GEMI) has been working consistently to provide business with EHS tools, which can be readily incorporated within their operational management structures. This publication, which is also packed with case studies and “live” examples, is an excellent practical guide to help recognise the synergies between EHS and supply chain management. EHS practitioners will find this publication (which was published in June 2004) a very useful addition to the bookshelf.
In addition to a pdf copy of this publication, an interactive version of Forging New Links is available at http://www.gemi.org/supplychain which includes a tool called “Value Wizard” which helps to identify value creation opportunities based upon specific company characteristics and priorities.
